Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of Dividnd. The most important part is the second section: Dividnd gives you educational information computed from your answers, not personalized financial advice, and it is not a substitute for a professional who knows your whole situation.

What Dividnd is

Dividnd is an educational tool. You answer questions about your finances, and our engine computes an illustration of what your money could do — tax estimates, a suggested order for where your next dollar goes, and a long-range projection.

Every dollar figure comes from our own deterministic engine, not from a language model. A language model is used only to word the explanation, and it is structurally prevented from producing or changing a number.

What Dividnd is not

Dividnd is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, tax adviser, or law firm, and nothing in the product creates a fiduciary or advisory relationship between us.

Nothing Dividnd shows you is personalized investment, tax, or legal advice. It is general educational information generated from the answers you provided. Before acting on anything here, especially anything involving taxes, retirement accounts, or debt, consult a qualified professional who can look at your complete situation.

Dividnd does not execute trades, move money, or hold your funds.

Forecasts are arithmetic, not predictions

Projections shown in Dividnd are the result of compounding fixed assumptions forward — an assumed rate of return, an assumed inflation rate, an assumed savings rate held steady for decades. Real markets do not behave that way, and your real life will not either.

A projected number is an illustration of what those assumptions imply, not a forecast of your outcome and not a promise. Your actual results will differ, possibly by a lot. Past performance does not indicate future results.

Tax figures are estimates

Our tax engine implements published federal and state rules for the current tax year and computes carefully, but it does not know everything about you. It does not replace a tax return, a tax professional, or the IRS.

Do not file, withhold, or make an irreversible tax decision based solely on a figure shown here.

Your information, and your responsibility for it

Everything Dividnd computes rests on what you tell it. If an input is wrong or out of date, the output will be wrong in ways that may not be obvious. Keep your details accurate, and update them when your situation changes.

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account.

You agree to use Dividnd for your own personal financial planning, not to scrape it, resell it, overwhelm it with automated requests, or attempt to extract our engine or its logic.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and a United States resident to use Dividnd. Our tax and account rules are built for the United States and would be wrong elsewhere.

Availability and changes

Dividnd is an early product under active development. Features may change, break, or be removed, and we may modify or discontinue the service.

We may update these terms. If a change is material we will update the date above and notify account holders; continuing to use Dividnd means you accept the updated terms.

No warranty, and limits on liability

Dividnd is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Dividnd and its founders are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any lost profits, lost savings, investment losses, or tax penalties arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred United States dollars.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Ending your use

You may stop using Dividnd and request deletion of your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms or that we reasonably believe is being used to harm the service or another person.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of laws rules, and any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in California.
